The DPM Recoil Reduction System works due to the multi spring intricate rod (3 springs) which acts like a brake on the slide, but only before stopping on the frame to the last 6 to 8mm of the movement.  

In some cases, the DPM Recoil System offers almost double force in the slide full open position compared with the factory OEM spring. Because of this, the slide of the pistol touches the frame gently, offering less recoil to the pistol.

Further, the moving parts of the pistol are protected, offering longer life to the pistol.
